Sun has always lived his life in peace, waking up
really early in the morning, going slowly to work and traveling a lot, from
East to West, watching the world and learning to feel complete on his own. Day
after day he runs into different situations, he meets new friends, and among
the clouds he notices a few prettier ones. He falls in love with one or two
during his life, but every time everything seems to act and take him in the
same situation: being the one who shines alone in the sky.
Moon has
always lived her life in suspence, dressing up with beautiful shades and going
out late at night, dancing all night long between stars. Sometimes
she looses her way with some of them, thinking she has finally found her
partner for the rest of her life...but when the magical atmosphere of the night
vanishes, she realizes that the sheen in the sky is only hers, no space for
other trails.
Time wears on. Days, months, seasons, years... It comes
the day when Moon doesn't want to go back home. She doesn't feel
"home" at home, she wants to search for that sensation and she wants
to find it more than everything else. She slips in the sky, taking her time,
dreaming and wondering about what she would like to find, without caring about
time.
Another day arrives, and with it Sun wakes up,
as usual, goes to wash his face looking in the sea-mirror, when he suddenly
feels something different in the air. A strange bright light clears the sky up.
But he hasn't begin his work shift yet, so he runs, worried about being late
and he sees her: rounded shape, deep eyes, intense gaze, gloomy luster. Every
single ray of his recognizes her, her moves, her curves, he has this image set
in his mind since the dawn of time. He freaks out. She is scary, he feels the
danger, but still he can't avoid her. He tries to run, but he can't. He has to
do something, so he decides to cast a beam on her direction, trying not to show
his hesitation. She jumps at the light, tries to open her eyes, she is not used
to this strong light. Who can have such an amazing greatness? She profits of
the warm sensation that is wrapping her and she slightly turns her head to see
where the light comes from.
Her cheeks catches on fire when their eyes meet. They
carefully study each other with interest. A marvellous dance starts, sunlight
comes across moonlight, they intersect and combine themselves, the sky is
filled up by their heat and light, magnificent heavenly colors come to life
with this encounter. It is a surprising dance, they both pretend to be
unaffected sometimes, they play, they have fun teasing each other and yet they
fit together piece by piece. Sun knows who she is and what this
affair means. You don't have to touch the fire to know it burns. Every time he
tries to take distance, he senses the coldness but he stubbornly struggles to
endure without her. She doesn't understand his game, she appreciates the power
he has on her, seduced she wants more and she comes closer. He doesn't want to
take the risk, he fights against himself. He wants more but his fears don't
want to leave him, he has given up to his loneliness. He pushes her away, he
puts some clouds between them, to see how strong her light is, how genuine her
heart, to see if she succeeds in overtaking every layer. She doesn't give
concessions. As layers fall down, she grows stronger and she identifies what
she wants in Sun. Moon gradually understands who she is dealing
with, she smells the troubles he has and she softly learns to win battles with
her forces and to let him feel he is safe with her.
A storm gets out of the way, black clouds, lightnings,
thunders, rain. They loose sight of each other. Moon wonders if she
was just dreaming, as always, she doubts Sun's existence, but she cannot
doubt her heart, she knows he is still there, behind those clouds, still
shining for her. He thinks clouds came to put an end to this
wonder, Sunlight burns and the last thing he wants is hurting her. He
takes advantage of the situation to hide himself, to find the strength to leave
her. She doesn't give up, she cheers herself up, she knows she has to fight
for Sun, she has the diligent stubbornness needed. She searches for him,
behind clouds, behind his rays, even if they burn she doesn't care, she wants
his sight on her again. And she finds him. He was hiding himself, hoping she
was going to save him but fearing to ask her the effort. And again she is
there, for him, to take care of him, to be at his side, to share his light, to
heal his burns.
Finally they both surrender to their fate: in their sky
there is place only for one Moonand one Sun. Once you have recognized
your other half you can't ignore him, one way or another, life will bring him
to you. Never let the other go, even when you know he can always be replaced:
you could replace his light with a bulb, but the warmth would never be the
same.
